In this course, we will be working with the more powerful LEGO SPIKE Prime set. This allows children to build larger and smarter robots and use multiple motors and sensors at the same time. This set offers plenty of possibilities and challenges — perfect for curious children aged 10–12 who are new to robotics, but also suitable for children aged 8 and up who have completed the Essential with us and are ready for the next step.

Robotics & Mechanics

In this course, children work with the more powerful LEGO SPIKE Prime set, which allows them to build larger and more complex robots and control multiple motors and sensors simultaneously. This makes the projects more challenging as well as more fun.

They delve further into mechanical principles such as transmissions, levers and smart motion systems, and apply them to build robots that are more responsive to their environment and perform more complex tasks. The extensive capabilities of the Prime hub allow all children to complete projects creatively and challengingly within the course curriculum.

Programming

With LEGO SPIKE Prime, children learn to program in a visual programming language based on Scratch. They build their programming skills step by step by working with variables, logic and functions, and learn how to build their code clearly and efficiently.

The more powerful hardware and additional programming capabilities allow the children to control more complex robots, further develop their problem-solving abilities as well as gain confidence in designing smart solutions.
