Course Content

At this level, children begin exploring robotics and programming with the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential set. They build various robot models, discover how motors and sensors work, and learn to control their robots using text-based programming in Scratch.

The Essential level consists of three modules: Motion, Sensors, and Logic. The modules can be taken in any order and together form a complete Essential robotics program.

Language: Dutch & English

What will you learn?

  • Motion

    Movement and Control
This module focuses on movement: how robots move and how you can control that movement using code.

  • Sensors

    Perceiving and Responding
Here, children discover how robots can use information from their environment and respond to it.

  • Logic

    Thinking and Decision-Making
This module focuses on logic: teaching robots to make choices, repeat actions, and handle situations more intelligently.

Robotics & Mechanics

Children build and program different robot models with LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential. They discover how parts and mechanisms work together and how forces, motion, and transmissions affect their robot's behavior.

Through experimentation, they learn to make their robots smarter and more efficient and develop their technical understanding.

Programming

Children program their robots with word-based blocks in the LEGO® SPIKE™ app. They make their robots move and react with sensors and use logic and repetition to create smart robot behavior.

This allows children to develop their logical thinking and problem-solving skills in a playful manner.
