At this level, children learn about robotics and programming through play. They build different robot models, discover how movement and sensors work, and learn to control their robots using LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential programming.

Language: Dutch & English

The Basic level consists of three modules — Motion, Sensors, and Logic.

Each module has its own focus and can be taken in any order. Together, they form a complete foundation in robotics. After completing all modules, your child can move on to the Essential level.

Motion

Movement and control
This module focuses on movement: how robots move and how you can control that movement using code.

Sensors

Observing and responding
Here, children discover how robots can use information from their environment and respond to it.

Logic

Thinking and Deciding
This module focuses on logic: robots learn to make choices, repeat actions, and deal with situations more intelligently.

Robotics & Mechanics

By building and programming with the LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential robotics kit, children discover how movement and mechanics work together in a robot. They use different parts and sensors to make their robots smarter and stronger.

Programming

Children program their robots using pictogram blocks in the LEGO® SPIKE™ app. They give their robots commands for movement and speed, make them respond with sensors, and use repetition to create smart robot behavior.
